Project 52 - Week of February 21, 2011

I got a call from my mom on Monday, she said that someone was publishing a "piece" of hers online and she needed a head shot to send her.  I was all over it.  Within a few hours, she was here and we were shooting.  I knew we had some good ones, but the one that really stood out to us both was the one where she was "goofing" around.  Just goes to show...and the first fave pic of the week is...

I also was asked by my gorgeous cousin if I would take some black and whites of her for a funky accent for her bedroom.  We had some fun with it, and I always love shooting her, because she is such a natural beauty and extremely photogenic.  So, here is my second fave photo of the week.  I just couldn't pick one...can you blame me??

Here are some others from both photo shoots that I love...

Project 52 (Week of 2/14/11)

My friend told me about Project 52 (I had heard of Project 365 before - one picture a day for year) and instantly thought, "that's for me!"  I just didn't think I could commit to one picture a day for a year, but one picture a week certainly intrigued me.  So, here I am with my first picture for the week of 2/14/11 (I realize I am coming into this late, but I will still try to do this for a year, til next Valentine's Day)...

This is the view out my back door on February 16, 2011 at sunset...I just couldn't get over the increase in temperatures and then to see this, it just put me in a wonderful mood!

Until next week...

A BEAUTIFUL (two) DAYS!!

So, as the weathermen predicted (and, we all know how inaccurate they can be sometimes), Thursday and Friday (2/17 and 2/18) brought southcentral PA a welcomed Indian Summer (ok, maybe Indian Spring, but we'll take it)!  On Thursday, we decided to get the heck out of the house...we opened all of the windows and hoped that the outdoors would suck all of the winter funk out of our home and headed to the playground.  And, man, was it FABULOUS!!

Friday was an exact replica of Thursday and the end of the beautiful day culminated in a Daddy/Daughter Dance held by the Community Recreation Board here.  It is such a sweet idea.  We have friends that have gone in the past and raved about it, so I figured this year, Emma was at the age where she could really enjoy it.  So, we got her all dolled up and ready to go and when Daddy got home from work, he gave her a corsage and escorted her to dinner and the dance with two other Daddy/Daughter couples/friends.  They danced, did the limbo, funky chicken and hokey pokey and she had an all around BLAST!

Ready to go and waiting patiently for her handsome date...

A closeup of the "do," just because we tried so many things with her hair and this is the simple one we settled on...

He's here!  Off they went to dance the night away...:-)

And, off I go to Zumba, yet another of my obsessions...I taught for a little over a year and have never been in better shape.  I gave up teaching when I decided to pursue photography, but I still try to go (preggers) as much as I can.  Sunday is my "Mom and me" zumba time, so I try to never miss it!

Happy Sunday and hope you have a fantastic week!

Warmin' up on V-Day!

Let me start by saying that I am one of those people that think Valentine's Day is overrated...I love my wonderful husband and beautiful kiddos, don't get me wrong, I just don't think that we need to buy $6 cards and a dozen roses to prove that love for each other.  I tell my husband every year, DO NOT get me flowers...they will look pretty and smell wonderful for a few days at best.  Now, this year, being preggo, I didn't refuse chocolate, as I usually do.  All of this being said, I do like a good holiday to take the time to do something special and out of the ordinary for the kids.  My wonderful friend, Natalie from http://aturtleslifeforme.blogspot.com/  (go check out her blog), inspires me to do these things and get crafty, think out of the box.  So, Valentine's Day morning, I made the kids heart-shaped pancakes, which they thoroughly enjoyed.  And, then for lunch, I came up with this concoction...pretty cute, I think.

We had stuffed peppers for dinner...just plain ol' stuffed peppers.  Sorry for the big build up!  :-)

To make the day one to remember, Mother Nature opened up and said "I Love You" with blue skies and 54 degree temps!  I could hardly believe it, in Valentine's day...in PA!  So, the kids and I headed outside, for an hour anyway, because the winds kicked up and it was just plain annoying.  But, tomorrow and Thursday are supposed to reach 50s and Friday....oh, Friday...65 degrees!  We may just make it to the park that day, look for pictures!

Even Sooner (hubby's an Oklahoma football fan, I got to pick the dog, he got to name the dog), our soon-to-be eight year old Golden Retriever enjoyed the outdoors.  He is terribly afraid of high winds, so he stuck close to me the whole time, but I think he was happy to be in the fresh air anyway.

I am taking an online course for digital photography and one of the projects is to take some photos at different shutter speeds...these were taken at a 1/8 shutter speed...very slow, hence the blurring effect.  Trying to perfect it, but like the way these turned out...

I hope to take more outdoor pics with these nice days coming up!  And, as I am desperately trying to be a better, more interesting blogger, I should have more blogs coming soon.

And, so that you know, my husband and I ARE "celebrating" Valentine's Day tonight, February 15th, at Fiesta Mexico for two reasons...

1) I am preggers and craving mexican cuisine (most important reason)

2) We have a $50 gift card for Fiesta Mexico (almost as important)

Happy belated Valentine's Day everyone!

Come on SPRING!!

With the weather predicted to be in the mid-40s this weekend, the arrival of Spring is on my mind...I can't tell you how excited I am to get outside in the fresh Spring air (and maybe some pollen, but I'll take it) to take some pictures of green grass, flowers and blue skies!  *Sigh* - The groundhog said early Spring and I'm holding him to it.  It can't come fast enough for me this year!  So, I want to wish happy Spring thoughts to all of you.  And, if you are thinking of having some outdoor portraits done, now is the time to get it on the calendar.  Please contact me and if you are in the area, enjoy the "warm" temps this weekend!  :-)
